Specimen is a typeface that was designed using a purely physical process, avoiding digital distortions as much as possible. Each type specimen was physically distorted using a collection of optical illusion based tools and then hand drawn with the only digital aspect being the production process.
At the core of the installation is the interactive component which prompts the viewer to interact and experiment with the collection of optical tools themselves. Looking at the typeface and visual representations through the lens of the optical tools creates a whole new layer of distortion unique to the viewer.
